Training PATHway and resources

Country Kitchens Facilitator Training PATHway

The Country Kitchens Training PATHway includes online sessions as well as practical workshops, all designed to equip you with additional skills, while enabling you to deliver a variety of healthy eating and lifestyle initiatives in communities.

This path takes you from raising basic awareness of the Country Kitchens 5 key messages, through to advocating for change in your community.

Our nutrition promotion training events occur regularly so you can keep progressing through the levels at your own pace.

We provide all the resources needed including items required to run events in your area or with your QCWA branch peers.

As well, the Country Kitchens team of Health Promotion Team Leaders (aka Country Kitchens Buddies) guide and support all branch facilitators during the learning process and in delivering the program across Queensland.

Being a trained facilitator is fun, educational and thoroughly rewarding.  As a Country Kitchens facilitator, you are joining a group of amazing volunteers.

NOTE we are constantly improving and updating our training materials and resources. Please check in regularly to these pages for the latest information and materials. If you have specific questions or cannot find what you need please contact your Country Kitchens buddy.

Level 4

Level 4 focuses on the Hands On Nutrition Workshops. The HONW is a cooking skills workshop run by facilitators in their local community with the active support of your Country Kitchens team buddy.

Workshops involve a cooking demonstration, basic nutrition education, a group cooking session, and a lot of fun!

To prepare our facilitators to deliver these workshops we provide a 1-day training session, teaching culinary skills, group facilitation techniques and basic chronic disease knowledge.  Check the Member Events tab for sessions; all are run by the Country Kitchens team at various locations across Queensland.

We are currently improving and updating the Level 4 training and resource materials. Please contact your Country Kitchens buddy for more information.

Level 5

Level 5 is about partnerships and building lasting relationships within communities, through activities which foster behaviour change. We know that behaviour change takes time and repetition, so this is where you can affect the most long lasting change to the health of your community.

There’s a range of Level 5 activities:

  • Back 2 Basics – a series of cooking workshops. Our facilitators love to run this series in schools, but they can be run with a number of different audiences.
  • Community gardens – a very collaborative, fun and productive way to embed the Country Kitchens messages.
  • Walking groups – an active option for any life stage and a great social opportunity too.
  • Any activity that works for your community and motivates active participation.

We are currently improving and updating the Level 5 training and resource materials. Please contact your Country Kitchens buddy.
