This month we would like to highlight Diane Donaldson from Herberton Branch in the Atherton Tableland Division of the QCWA. Here are a few words from Diane about being a Country Kitchens facilitator:
My name is Diane and I have been a QCWA Country Kitchens facilitator for just over a year now. More
recently, I have also taken on the role of Country Kitchens Division Convenor and have been enjoying
supporting other facilitators across the Atherton Tablelands to deliver the program.
I love cooking and make everything from scratch, and have done so for many years. I got involved with the Country Kitchens program to promote and raise awareness of the importance of consuming a healthy, balanced diet, and to show how easy it can be to make great tasting healthy meals at home.
My main interest is cooking, but outside of the QCWA I love to read and paint. I am also a Catering Officer for my local Rural Fire Brigade.
I have been involved in a range of Country Kitchens community activities, and have recently completed my Level 5 facilitator training. I have assisted with a showcase at the Atherton Show for the past two years, and also helped deliver hands on nutrition workshops for Year 10 students at Malanda High School in conjunction with other faciltiators. I am also hoping to organise a Back to Basics workshop series with a local community group in the near future.
If you or someone you know is keen to work with the QCWA Country Kitchens program, we are always looking to increase our volunteer workforce. To learn all about what we do, please get in touch with the team on 0417 539 663, or head to our website: qcwacountrykitchens.com.au
