Homemade Granola

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds or pepitas
  • 1 cup dried fruit (eg. chopped apricots, apple, pineapple, raisins)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup neutral oil such as canola
  • ⅓ cup honey or maple syrup
Method:
  1. MIX oats, almonds, seeds, dried fruit and cinnamon together in large bowl.
  2. HEAT half of the oil in large pan on medium heat.
  3. ADD in oat mix and stir until oats are light brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. ADD in honey and remaining oil and stir for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. REMOVE from heat and allow to cool.
What's Great About It:

A healthier alternative to many store-bought granolas, this recipe is low in sugar and high in fibre. Make a batch and store in an airtight container for an easy to grab breakfast option. Serve half a cup of granola topped with yoghurt and your choice of fruit for a well-balanced breakfast!
