Supermarket Superheroes Project

Fruit and Vegetables are Supermarket Superheroes!

Eating fruits and vegetables everyday is important for good health. Eating a range of fruits and vegetables everyday can help reduce your risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.

Most of us try to eat healthy foods as much as possible, but being surrounded by unhealthy food products and marketing undermines people’s efforts to maintain a healthy diet. People need more information to make informed decisions about healthy food products.

Supermarkets are in a unique position to help people make healthier food choices and to meet customer demand for nutritious options.

Supermarket Superheroes

The Supermarket Superheroes project will see the QCWA Country Kitchens team and local Country Kitchens facilitators working with store managers of participating local stores to improve the healthiness of the in-store food environment. This includes in-store strategies and promotion of fruit and vegetables through a local social marketing campaign.

The campaign will focus on promoting fruit and vegetables as ‘superheroes’ to encourage shoppers to incorporate these items into their meals. By associating fruits and vegetables with superhero imagery, the campaign aims to make healthy eating fun, engaging, and accessible for everyone.

To bring the campaign to life, collateral such as posters, recipe cards, and shelf tags featuring the ‘superhero’ produce and branding will be positioned strategically in store. The campaign will also be promoted through local print and digital media opportunities. Supermarket Superheroes is anticipated to boost store produce sales, benefiting both the store and the community by fostering healthier eating habits.
